Established in 2014 based on years of experience gained at Edinburgh University, and its own subsequent research, BioSimetrics uses a unique description of feed and forages based on in vitro gas production techniques (IVGPT) that measure the rate and extent of carbohydrate and protein degradation in the rumen. Using this unique description of the feedstuffs, diets can then be formulated using our specialist software – BSM-Milk. This dynamic, mechanistic whole animal model properly simulates the ruminant digestion process leading to accurate predictions of feed intake (+/- 0.4 kg DM Ambriz-Vilchis et al. 2019) and animal performance. It also aids the reduction of feed wastage and environmental discharge.
With our accurate and reliable method of feedstuff evaluation and powerful ration formulation programme combined, rations are created based on the sound knowledge of accurate predictions of intake and performance allowing our users to adapt feeding regimes, to evaluate the performance of available forages and
ingredients, and to finely optimise animal performance.
BioSimetrics produces NIR equations that enable routine and same day analysis for all the main forages used in the United Kingdom (Grass silage, Wholecrop cereals silage, Maize silage, hay/haylage). Below you can download comprehensive descriptions of the services we offer.
